Summer is here and temperatures are on the rise. But before you spend unlimited hours under the sun, make sure that you give your skin the pampering it needs. Whether you’re planning to get a glowing skin that is perfect for your next summer event or you want to revive your skin’s moisture after a day under the sun, these DIY facial masks will do the job! Read on to learn how to make these simple, homemade facial masks.

1. Baking Soda and Mineral Water

Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is one of the best remedies for acne. It has mild anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that help to lessen irritation caused by acne. It is also said to be mild enough to be used on a sensitive skin.

Directions: The recipe is quite simple. Just dissolve eight teaspoons of baking soda in a cup of water (about half). Mix until you reach a creamy and soft consistency that is not too thick nor thin. If it is dry, add some water. If it has excess water, just add some baking soda. Use it like a regular mask and do this twice a week until the pimples have disappeared.
2. Honey, Cinnamon And Coconut Flakes
Another easy, effective and safe DIY facial mask that you can do at home is the Cinnamon, Honey and Coconut mask. It has antibacterial and moisturising properties that are great for calming skin. It is also full of antioxidants that help in preventing premature skin aging.
Directions: Mix a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and two teaspoons of raw honey and apply to washed, clean skin. Leave on for about ten to sixty minutes. Wash off using warm water (in a circular motions to exfoliate). Use the coconut oil as a moisturiser. Use it once to thrice a week to avoid over-exfoliation.
3. Oatmeal, Yogurt and Honey
Oatmeal is a natural wonder that helps unclog pores by absorbing excess oil deep in our skin. The nutrients in oatmeal such as zinc, polysaccharides, b-vitamins are beneficial for skin. It helps minimize acne breakouts and formations of blackheads and whiteheads, alike.
Directions: Combine a tablespoon of ground oatmeal,  a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of yogurt in a small mixing bowl. Apply to clean face and let it settle for at least 15 minutes. Rinse of with warm water until the entire mask comes off. Splash with cold water just after rinsing with warm water to close up your pores.
4. Mango-Avocado
For hot, summer days, this facial mask is your best bet. Both mango and avocado are rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fruit acids that will nourish and hydrate your skin. It will not only leave your skin soft and supple, but it will also help to clear out acne and blackheads.
Directions: In a mixing bowl, combine a tablespoon of mango pulp, two teaspoons of pureed avocado and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Mix until you get a smooth  consistency. Apply onto a clean face. Leave it for about ten to fifteen minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
